My hiking sticks are cut cedar branches, which are then progressively sanded, oiled to bring out the character of the wood, and finished with a UV/water resistant spar urethane finish.
The one pictured below stands about 5 1/2 feet tall, with the carved letters at the top reading “Not all those who wander are lost, the old that is strong does not wither”. In elvish, of course.

These crosses are hand-cut from the heartwood of an aromatic red cedar log, and are never touched by any electric or power tool They are sanded by hand and then oiled with natural tung oil. Some (including me) have placed them in the casket with departed loved ones as a keepsake.

These log bird feeders are made of spalted cedar which give them a natural multicolored look. They work best with suet bird food. Other woods are available upon request.
